About SuperfoodsSuper-foods are typically non-meat, and instead plant based. The term of "superfood" is a more recent term, and many consider it to be a term mostly more for marketing purposes. Either way, this term is only food which has many health benefits. Some of the many nutrients of super-foods are antioxidants, good fats, fibers, and phytochemicals. Here is a list of some of the many "superfoods".
1. Berries The first highly nutritious food on my list are berries. Berries are packed with antioxidants as well as fiber. 2. Green Tea Green Tea is one of the healthiest types of teas out there, as it is packed with many nutrients, and has low oxidation. Green tea has polyphenols, which are are a specific nutrient that contains many antioxidants. Green tea can also help keep the digestive and cardiovascular systems in good health, as well as helping cholesterol. 3. Eggs It was believed that eggs can cause heart issues due to high cholesterol, but this information was totally false. Eggs are very nutritious, and contain zeaxanthin and lutein antioxidants. These antioxidants promote eye health and help prevent from harmful eye diseases. 4. Fish Fish contains many nutrients, such as vitamin D, calcium, and iodine. 5. Nuts Some examples of superfood nuts are almonds, pistachios, and walnuts. Almonds could help cholesterol levels, pistachios could help with blood pressure as well as cholesterol, and walnuts could help prevent heart diseases. 6.Pomegranate Eating pomegranates has many benefits as pomegranates have many nutrients. Pomegranate helps prevent free radicals in our bodies. Also Pomegranate is a natural blood thinner as well. Lastly, pomegranate may help lower the risk of arthritis. 7. Avocados Avocados are highly nutritious and contain many different natural vitamins. Also, avocados have a high potassium rate, even more than bananas. Lastly, this food is packed with fibers. 8. Chia Seeds Chia seeds have many nutrients, as well as antioxidants. Also, chia seeds have a good amount of protein in them. 9. Leafy Greens There are many highly nourishing leafy greens such as, kale, spinach, micro greens, cabbage, beets, etc. All of these greens have high vitamin amounts, as well as minerals, and fiber. By eating these greens, it can help with weight, heart problems, and blood pressure, 10. Quinoa Quinoa is a very common food in this day and age. It is a gluten free alternative, and it has high protein amounts, as well as amino acids, fiber, and much more. Quinoa also has many antioxidants. As you have read there are many different very nutritious foods, also known as "superfoods". Personally, I believe that many people don't look past the term of "superfood". This is because people may think it's all just to get your attention, when in reality these foods are just as good for you as the media claims they are. If you start by adding these foods to your diet, they can do wonders for your body and health. One question that people should consider when trying to maintain a healthy diet is: "what nutrients am I lacking?"
